Welcome To My World 2011

We were recently fortunate enough to be invited to attend this concert performed by children and young adults with various disabilities.  Our invite came through a colleague of my fiance's who is a volunteer for Very Special Arts Singapore (VSA) in her spare time.  The show was only on for one day with two performances and was absolutely amazing.

There were a variety of schools from all across the island taking part in the performance and they all had wonderful acts to share with a very appreciative audience.  We saw dance groups, both contemporary and traditional, various musicians again playing a variety of instruments including traditional Asian ones, singers, pieces of beautiful art work and circus acts.  It really was a magical evening and those involved clearly got so much out of having the opportunity to perform to an audience.

At the end of the evening all the various groups were presented with certificates by the guest-of-honour, Jane Ittogi the Chair of the Singapore Art Museum.  Something that they were all clearly proud to be receiving.  It really was a lovely evening.

You can find out more about the work of the VSA here.
