Singapore Sling on the Singapore Flyer

I was recently invited to take a ride on the Singapore Flyer and sample their Singapore Sling experience.  The Singapore Flyer offers a number of unique flight experiences as well as the regular ride and the Singapore Sling flight is one of the latest to be introduced.

As part of the experience, when we first arrived we had access to the Flyer Lounge, a modern, intimate bar serving a range of drinks and cocktails.  As we had to wait a short while to board our flight this was the perfect place to begin our evening.  Once we were invited to board we were able to enjoy exclusive immediate boarding as part of the experience rather than through the usual boarding process and as we arrived at our pod our Singapore Slings had been prepared and were served to us by waiting bar staff.

We were lucky in that we were the only ones travelling in our particular pod.  Unfortunately though we had to ride in the champagne flight pod as the Singapore Sling pod was not in the right place for us to board it at our allocated time.  Although this pod was very nice with plush sofas to sit on, a sound system playing an array of music throughout our flight and several bottles of a certain type of champagne on display it was, of course, decorated for the champagne flight (hence the champagne bottles) rather than the Singapore Sling experience.  Regardless though the ride itself, the Sling and the views were very enjoyable and we felt like VIPs as others waiting to board took our photo as we left in the plush champagne pod.

We took our ride at about 7pm and the views across the lit up night skyline of Singapore were stunning as I expected them to be.  The Central Business District and Marina Bay area certainly are beautiful at night.  The Flyer also always looks beautiful lit up at night and as we rode it changed colour which only added to the beauty.  The ride takes half an hour to do one complete rotation and both during the day and at night provides excellent views of this part of Singapore.

The Singapore Sling ride would be a great thing to do for a special occasion or as a special treat and was a lovely way to spend an evening.

As a tempter the Singapore Flyer are currently offering a special 1-for-1 offer on the Singapore Sling flight.  This offer is running from the 5 November 2011 to 31 December 2011.

The Singapore Sling ride can be taken daily at 2.30pm; 4:30pm; 6.30pm; 7.30pm; 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

  1. Oo looks like fun. I know we are keen to give it a go. I love the Millennium wheel in London and I think cities are just beautiful at night.

  5. They are actually a lot bigger than they look. It's hard to compare to something else but certainly the size of a small room. There is plenty of space to move around and sit well away from the edge if you are not sure about the heights. I've been on it at other times with other people in the pod too and I've never felt it was crowded or uncomfortable or that you could not get a decent photo because of other people.
